A remarkable man

Bernard was a remarkable man.  He consistently underestimated his wide range of abilities and skills. Whatever he did was thorough,  methodical and well executed. I saw many examples of this over the 45 years I was honoured to know him.

I once asked him to produce a training video for auditors on how to interview to obtain information. The resulting video received sponsorship from British Telecommunications plc, Shell International Petroleum Co Ltd and The Audit Commission.  Bernard wrote the script, produced the sets, directed the actors and researched and wrote the accompanying guide to interviewing...  This was hardly a straightforward task...

Bernard got on very well with people throughout his life; and he had an amazing sense of humour which he retained until the end.

I will treasure the profusely illustrated and humorous cards he sent me over the years, and also the pictures and drawings he made for me and my eldest grandson, Arthur.

I will miss him, and I am finding it difficult to accept that he is no longer with us.

At least he is no longer in pain.

I have many pleasant memories of our times together over the last forty odd years.

Bernard loved his family dearly, and was very proud of everything they achieved.
